Ahhh... food! What a great backdrop for our daily family gatherings,when we partake together! All of us have memories of the times spent around the dinner table. We'd like you to take some great memories from our dinner table! Here at the Evergreen Forest, we know how important good food is to those memories.
Our setting is definitely unique: think of the Sunroom Cafe as a private dining room in a restaurant. But not your typical restaurant. We are deep in the Niagara Escarpment forest, cut off from the noise and distraction of the outside world. Peruse one of our nature guides to identify the wildlife: at the windows the birds sing and the chipmunks scurry about, providing a great natural experience. Rain or shine (or snow!), you will be entranced by this little parade of nature outside the window.
Now, let's get to the menus!
Breakfasts
Take out the Breakfast and we're just "The Evergreen Forest Bed"!! It's just not the same...That's why we really put a lot into our breakfasts, and as former restaurant owners, we know breakfast!
Generally, there are at least three broad menu choices for you: they are the best of our restaurant breakfast menus, and are available all year:
Breakfast is a really relaxed affair here. We serve our three breakfasts from 8am to 10am every day. If you're an early riser, feel free to help yourself to the available cereal dispensers in the Sunroom Cafe, and the milk in the fridge. If that's too much, then try one of our yogurt cups instead. Our brewed coffee comes out with the prepared breakfasts, but you can make yourself coffee or tea any time of day from the self-serve center in the Sunroom Cafe.
We enjoy getting to know our customers. If you're not in a hurry to go "touristing", we'd be happy to sit and talk for awhile after breakfast. We may learn just as much about your neck of the woods as we'll tell you about ours!
But did you know... that from after Labour Day weekend to before the Canada Day weekend, Caroline provides a unique feature for our guests. Our World Flavours menu comes alive! Forget about going out to a restaurant! Our lovely Sunroom Cafe will provide the perfect setting for a taste of a faraway place. Currently, we are featuring three unusual locales, and the meal is made from scratch right here.
That lovely costume Caroline is wearing is very similar to a what a Tibetan woman would wear to an important social event. We can't guarantee that she will always wear it when serving our customers, however!
We strive to maintain an authentic character in our recipes, and use ingredients which are normally available to the people of the Region. We have been careful to reproduce the nature of spicing as well; this is where the real character of food is found. During your stay with us, we will do a start-to-finish banquet style meal, the kind that people might have at family gatherings. It would be equivalent to our Thanksgiving or Christmas dinners, the kind with all the trimmings. The dishes will be similar in nature to those we have illustrated here. We don’t rely on a fixed entrée list; we are constantly adding new recipes to our repertoire. Be prepared for a fascinating, delicious meal!
Words aren't really necessary here; the following sucrose-pixeled images will be more than enough to whet your snacking lust. But we feel no guilt; we make no attempt to wave any "healthy lifestyles" banner when our desserts are served. So go ahead. They're goodies! They're decadent! Let anarchy reign!
