Calling all horseshoe tossers! Ever played horseshoes in the middle of a 500-acre forest? For your vacationing pleasure, Evergreen Forest Resort B&B is proud to offer our Guests the use of our regulation-sized horshoe pit area. Just a few steps from your walk-out deck, it beckons all to enjoy a little afternoon or evening game.

Our new Horseshoe Pits

Here's a challenge for you: beat Doug (for the guys) or Caroline (for the girls) and wine and cheese is on us! That's right! Play either one of us in a 20-point cancellation game; if you win, we'll join you later for a little soiree, and the wine and cheese is on us. And don't worry: neither one of us is championship material (or very good, for that matter). If you're a professional pitcher, just don't tell us until after you win :)
Here's a little trivia: the expression "dead ringer" is used in the game of horseshoes as a ringer that has been matched (and cancelled) by an opponent's throw. However, this appears to be just a coincidental use of the expression more commonly applied to comparison of appearance. When someone is a "dead ringer" for another person, they look the same. The idiom seems to originate from the 19th century word "ringer" as it was used to describe a horse "taken through the country and trotted under a false name and pedigree " While there is a tempting connection between horse racing and horseshoe pitching, it would seem there is no association between the two; horseshoe pitching has created a new and interesting use of an old expression.
Anyway, our B&B is a dead ringer for a wilderness resort; find out why! It's just one more great reason to try a vacation with us, deep in the forest.
