ELIGIBILITY:  To be eligible to win a prize, a Contestant must: a) be a Canadian resident; b) be over twenty-one (21) years of age at the time of their Entry submission during the contest entry period (January 1 – Aug 31, 2012; c)  not be an immediate family member of any employee of Evergreen Forest Resort, or any of the Contest’s judges. The Contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law. The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial, and local laws and regulations.  The Contestant agrees to provide consent: (a) for the Contestant's participation in the Contest and attendant publicity; and (b) for Evergreen Forest Resort's exclusive and unrestricted use of the Entry in Evergreen Forest Resort’s promotions, including, but not limited to, display on their website , and use in media relations materials.
The contestant’s photos and text must fit into the template downloaded from Evergreen Forest Resort website, or received by e-mail as described above. Text may be typewritten in English or French.  All Entries become the property of Evergreen Forest Resort and will not be returned.

DEADLINE: The contest begins January 1, 2011 ("Contest Start Date"). To be eligible, Entries must be received by Evergreen Forest Resort no later than Friday, Aug 31, 2012. No submissions will be accepted after the deadline for any reason.
Entries must include a valid name, e-mail address and phone number. Evergreen Forest Resort is not responsible for lost, late, or misdirected Entries.

WINNING ARTIST SELECTION: The winning artist will be chosen by a panel of three (3) judges according to the outlined criteria and in the manner indicated below, and announced via Evergreen Forest Resort’s website,  during the month of October, 2012.
Entries will be reviewed using a four-point rating based on the following criteria:

Uniqueness (previously published stories will be given less preference)
Writing skill
Human Interest
Relevance to Bear Awareness in Canada

Entries received will be reviewed and pre-selected by Evergreen Forest Resort in the following manner:
Evergreen Forest Resort will select ten (10) entries based on the above criteria from all of the entries received.  These ten (10) entries will move on to the next round of judging.
Out of these ten (10) entries, a panel of three (3) local writing experts will each select their favourite story that best represent the criteria listed above.  Their choices will be sent to one (1) final judge representing local writers, who will make the final selection of one (1) winner and two (2) runner-ups.
The decisions of Evergreen Forest Resort and the judges are final.

PRIZES: The prizes are as follows:
All participants will receive acknowledgement of their participation upon receipt of their completed Entry. A confirmation e-mail letter  will be mailed to the e-mail address specified on the Entry.
Main Prizes: The winning artist selected from among the semi-finalist Entries will receive a coupon for weekend getaway for him or her and one (1) other adult guest at the Evergreen Forest Resort, which includes accommodation in one (1) of our rooms, two (2) breakfasts, one (1) candlelight supper and  a special take-home momento.
A first and second runner-up will also be selected from among the semi-finalist entries. The two runner-ups will each receive a free night at the Evergreen Forest Resort, which includes accommodation for the winning author and one (1) adult guest in one (1) of our rooms, one (1) breakfast, and a special take-home momento. All the above prizes have no cash value.
Prize redemptions must be completed during the following time period: after Sunday October 28 2012 and before Thursday June 28 2013.
No substitution for, or transfer of a prize, will be allowed. Prizes do not include costs incurred by the winners in travelling to or departing the Evergreen Forest Resort. The odds of being selected for the Main Prizes depend on the total number of eligible Entries received during the contest period.
Prior to receiving a prize, an entrant must answer a skill-testing question administered by Evergreen Forest Resort, and sign a standard release and liability waiver.

WINNER NOTIFICATION: The winning artists will be contacted by e-mail at least three (3) times within fourteen (14) days after being selected by the Contest judges. If the winning entrant cannot be contacted in that time, the first runner-up will be named the winner, the second runner-up will be named first runner-up, and a new artist from the semi-finalists will be named second runner-up. Where a selected entrant cannot be contacted because of incomplete or incorrect information, Evergreen Forest Resort will use reasonable efforts to contact the selected entrant. If Evergreen Forest Resort is unable to contact the selected entrant within fourteen (14) days, another entrant will be selected and the initial selected entrant will have no further recourse towards Evergreen Forest Resort or anyone involved in the Contest. The winning artists, will be required to sign a standard Declaration and Release form confirming compliance with the Contest Rules and Regulations, the Eligibility Requirements, if applicable, acceptance of a prize as awarded and releasing the Contest Sponsor and Evergreen Forest Resort from all liability.

REGULATIONS: The Contest is subject to all federal, provincial and local laws. Personal information provided to enter the Contest will be used only to administer the Contest, and for no other reason in accordance with Canadian privacy laws.  No permanent records of any such personal information will be retained, except as required for the administration of the Contest.
For Quebec residents, any litigation respecting the conduct or organization of a publicity contest may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux for a ruling. Any litigation respecting the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the board only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement.
As a minimum, the persons specified in section 12 of the Quebec Rules respecting publicity contests must be excluded in all cases; Section 12: a person for whom a publicity contest is carried on, his employee, representative or agent, a member of the jury and the persons with whom they are domiciled may not enter the contest.
By participating in the Contest, Contestants agree to release, discharge, indemnify and hold harmless Evergreen Forest Resort, and its affiliates, employees and contractors, and judges from any and all liability, claims, damages, actions or causes of action whatsoever which they, their heirs, successors, assigns, executors or administrators may now or hereafter have directly or indirectly against them or any of them in respect of or relating to the Contest and/or the acceptance or use, misuse, or possession of any prize. Winners agree to sign a liability waiver form to this effect. Any expenses and costs, which are not specifically linked to awarding the prizes, will be the Contestants’ responsibility.
By submitting an Entry, Contestants agree to abide by these Rules and Regulations and the decisions of Evergreen Forest Resort, which are final. By accepting the Main Prizes, winners agree to the use of their name, their submitted artwork, and/or photograph, without payment, in any subsequent publicity carried out by Evergreen Forest Resort and/or its public relations agents.  The Sponsor reserves the right, subject to the approval of the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux du Québec, to cancel or modify the Contest if fraud or technical failures compromise the integrity of the Contest as determined by the Sponsor in its sole discretion.
